2. Neck

Picture
Neck pain may be associated with headaches and may feature severely restricted movement in the neck often most obvious when approaching a junction in the car, when the sufferer has to turn their entire body to see what's behind them!

Neck pain may occur as a result of an accident (most commonly whiplash type injuries) or postural changes through driving/work activities leading to strain on the muscles and ligaments in your neck. Osteoporosis can occur in the cervical spine (the neck) which can also lead to strain on the local tissues.

Occasionally, this can result in irritation of the nerves in your neck which can cause shooting pains into your arms and hands. This usually results from slight inflammation of the tissues in your neck which may not be visible to the naked eye (although there may be other causes).

All of these conditions may be addressed by gentle treatment to the neck, in addition to an overall assessment of the patient's posture to help identify any underlying causes.
