Looking up your Ailments on the Internet

Picture
. . . anyone can post anything on the Internet
In a word, don't !

With the advent of computers and search engines, it's extremely tempting to type 'back pain' or 'headaches' or 'rash' into a search engine and read the results. Please bear in mind the following :

• anyone can post anything on the Internet, whether it is a theory about aliens, the Earth being flat or misleading (if well-intentioned) information about medical conditions

• there are usually several possible explanations for your symptoms, most of them relatively harmless

• as humans, we tend to focus on the most pessimistic diagnosis and persuade ourselves that that this applies to us

If you are feeling unwell or have concerns about your health, book an appointment with your G.P. or use one of he NHS walk-in centres if there's one near you. If you are suffering pain which you believe is joint or muscle related, then you can visit an Osteopath without the need for referral from the G.P. as Osteopaths are Primary Healthcare Professionals. When discussing your pain, they will screen you for other conditions and illnesses and refer you to the G.P. if necessary.
